Tips on Achieving “Homey” Office Designs

With the current CoViD-19 situation the world is facing, employees and workers alike have been required to shift to working from home. On the other hand, those essential workers are mandated to go out and still attend office to keep things in order.

Nonetheless, this period has made workers comfortable working from home. Soon enough, we would all be going to our usual workplaces and we definitely would want a feel of home. Thus, what must we do to achieve a “homey” office design in the near future?

Invest in a good chair.

We are literally stuck on chairs for hours when working. Thus, investing on a beautiful and comfortable chair is a must. Today, aesthetic ones can be found all over online shops. It is best to match it with your personality and the overall aura of your space. Go for swivel ones to make you move freely. However, do not go for ones that are too comfortable. It pays to keep focused.

Go for homey accessories.

Linen bulletin boards, natural woodrow trash cans, stitched notebook sets, storage boxes – these extras with surely contribute to the overall home ambiance of your office space. Get away with the usual formal designs. Of course, do not ever forget to add a touch of “you” by surrounding yourself with personal items that motivate and inspire you.

Have some greens.

Office spaces tend to feel more “homey’” when there is anything that depicts nature – like a bonsai tree or a mini waterfall globe on your desk. These are known to give off happiness and productivity. Moreover, it reduces bad feelings which are a big no-no at work spaces.

Paint it with the right colors.

Forget the “office color” of beige and off whites. Light and airy colors are perfect to achieve a feel of home. However, consider painting a part of a wall a bolder color to show of some contrast and balance. Colors have a great impact on one’s mood! Thus, it is important to have colors that exude calmness, creativity, and productivity.

Get some light.

As much as possible, try to get some natural light. Position your desk and computer so there is no sunlight glare that could strain your eyes. You can also add some desk lamp to keep you focused at work. Swing-arm desk lamps could be beautiful. If your desk really faces a wall, put some mirror to have a window view instead.

Working from home is today’s new normal and people have become accustomed to it as it gives more comfort and peace of mind knowing that one does not need to go out. On this current time, a well-designed office with a feel of home is what we need.
